Game On
Thursday, July 29th, 2010Yet another fun video by the cast of the Guild:
Here is yet another iPad parody. This time in the form of a song. It is a little long but a must view… especially for all you Michael Jackson fans out there.
I found the following Venn diagram on the Great White Shark blog detailing the difference between geeks, nerds, dorks, and dweebs based on intelligence, Obsession, and Social Ineptitude.
I think I fall pretty squarely in the geek category. How about you?
This evening I attended the Blog Indiana event at Indiana University East sponsored by Summersault Website Development. Brad J. Ward, CEO of BlueFuego — a web-based higher education marketing and recruitment company — gave a presentation on the future of social media. It was an interesting presentation and Brad was a good presenter. While I didn’t really hear anything new about social media and networking, I did come away with one bit of anecdotal information that could come in handy. (more…)
The long awaited day has finally arrived. Droidmas has finally come. I am now the proud new owner of a Motorola Droid. No longer a coveter of my friends’ and family’s smart phones.
I have had my new phone for 2 whole days now and I am feel like I have a good feel for it. So I will share my first impressions of the phone. I am sure over time some of these will change, but for now, here’s how I like it. (I LOVE it).
I spent a great day today snowed in because we got about 10 inches of snow here in Richmond. It was a beautiful, wet, dense snow that stuck to everything and made for some amazing photos.
I also started another new knitting project from “One More Skein“. I am knitting myself a new washcloth using the Pencil Sketch pattern. I started using one of the knitted washcloths I made for the Co-op sale, and I fell in love. It is so much nicer than using the store-bought kind, so I am making myself a second. This way I can actually wash my first washcloth
.
I am currently sitting in a room full of fellow geeks at a “Hacker House” party hosted by a friend of mine. While most of the conversation revolves around programming and other parts of geekery that I am not as well versed in, I am actually finding it more interesting than I expected. I have even been able to introduce friends to new Linux programs I use and teach a fellow female geek to use Picasa.
What an unexpectedly fun evening of geekdom.

I know most people won’t recognize all the fabulous web/tech celebrities but this is still a fun video. Who can pass up puppies:
As I finish knitting projects (most recently a baby sweater and set of wash cloths), I record my new projects in Ravelry. Ravelry is a perfect union of two of my strongest areas of interest: knitting and the internet. It is an online community for knitters and crocheters that goes way beyond social networking. Ravelry allows its users to post and track projects, search patterns, store information about stashed yarn, search forums, keep a list of needles owned, join groups, see what others are making, comment on other users’ projects, and much much more.
