October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I wanted to share some tips for promoting breast cancer awareness in your community I found on the National Breast Cancer Awareness website:
On September 6th Dave Matthews and other entertainers including Phil Vassar and John Mayer put on a free 5 hour concert for the students, faculty, and staff of Virginia Tech in memory of the 33 killed on April 16, 2007. At the end of the concert Dave Matthews played an old Bob Marley song “Three Little Birds”.
“Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing’s gonna be all right.”
I wasn’t able to attend the concert myself for obvious reasons, but I know it meant a lot to those at Virginia Tech as has all the support provided over the past months.
We Are Virginia Tech!
My boss, Mark, is expecting a new baby this year and like most people must get a bigger form of transportation to haul his child around in. Unlike most people, Mark’s chosen form of transportation is a recumbent bicycle. So, instead of upgrading to a station wagon or SUV, Mark bought the SUV of the bicycle world: a Bakfiet.
This intriguing bike will haul up to 275 lbs and is quite a comfy ride. I was lucky enough to be the first to get to take a ride around the block in the “bucket”. Matt and I also took turns driving, however neither of us were good enough drivers to have a passenger. I can only imagine the questions and interesting looks Mark will be getting in the days to come. He is extraordinarily pleased with his new bike however, and I am sure will be more than happy to answer any and all questions that will come his way.
