OMG…I can sew!
I recently finished my first two sewing projects: a knitting needle holder and a matching bag. This was my first endeavor into sewing, and it was quite an experience. While my projects are by no means perfect, I am very pleased with how they turned out. Sure, some of my seams are less than straight, as much thread may have gone into huge knots as went into the actual sewing, and I may have broken the needle on the sewing machine, but in the end I have two great items I actually made.
I decided to take on the projects because I have become very interested in knitting recently and didn’t have any way to store my knitting needles. Since knitting is such a “make-yourself” kind of activity, it just seemed wrong to buy something to store my needles in. The knitting needle holder pattern came from “Stich and Bitch“, and it was definitely more complicated than the bag. I was actually able to make the bag from leftover fabric from the needle holder. Apparently they add extra fabric into the pattern so there is no need to add more… who knew!
I doubt I will do many more sewing projects in the future, but I am glad I was able to complete these two. They will make knitting much more pleasant!
Here are some photos of my projects:
